Advisory Project Management

Act in advisory capacity to support owner's project management team. Establish checkpoints and step in where needed to offer advice and keep project on course.

On-Site Project Management

Provide on-site management and maintain presence as necessary to facilitate process and reinforce owner's vision. Manage coordination between team members and facilitate timely issue resolution to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

Site Assessments

Evaluate potential locations for a specific healthcare facility, comparing and ranking each site by various attributes such as cost, visibility, accessibility, traffic, soil conditions, regulatory environments and demographics to help facilitate a decision.

Facility Condition Assessments

Inspect existing facility and evaluate the condition of buildings, systems, and grounds. Estimate the remaining life of major components including building systems, medical equipment and furniture. Estimate cost of improvements and identify long and short-term goals.

Preliminary Estimating

Create a high-level estimate of total project costs while still in the initial planning phase, which can be used to determine the project scope and affordability.

Capital Expenditure Planning

Prepare and maintain a comprehensive capital project budget for remodels, expansions and new, freestanding facilities. Prioritize needs and establish short and long-term goals for cost management.

Campus Land Use Planning

Create a long-term Campus Land Use Plan for development of a site that includes healthcare or mixed-use facilities to optimize land use, obtain financing or build community consensus.

Project Scheduling

Create comprehensive critical-path schedules for all phases of project development. Maintain schedule and track progress, establish accountability, anticipate problems and quickly respond to change.

Design and Planning Peer Reviews

Provide peer review during the planning and design phases as well as quality assessment of construction documents during the bid package phase, to ensure that design adequately reflects owner's intent and objectives.

Medical Equipment & Furnishings Coordination

Manage and track all medical equipment and furnishing expenses as an integral part of the comprehensive budget. Coordinate timely purchasing and installation of new, as well as owner-provided equipment and furnishings to ensure timely delivery.

Technology Coordination

Technology is the third or fourth largest cost item with a hospital project. Walker & Associates coordinates with your IT staff and consultants and the rest of the team for the planning and integration of IT systems and equipment with the facility design.

Move-In and Start-Up

Coordinating specialized consultants to develop a detailed plan for move-in and start-up that maintains a safe patient environment and minimizes disruption to work flow. During this phase, we will facilitate building system training, coordinate cleaning and inspections, and resolve outstanding punch list items.
